macOS 27 Golden Gate at a glance

macOS 27 is named macOS Golden Gate. Apple announced it at WWDC on 8 June 2026 as the successor to macOS Tahoe 26, and it is the first macOS that runs only on Apple silicon: every M-series Mac is supported and no Intel Mac is. The supported Macs list covers every model, from the M1 MacBook Air to the MacBook Neo.

The current public release is macOS 27.0.1 (26A434), and macOS 27.2 beta 4 (26B5112a) is in testing. Most people should install the beta from System Settings as described in our macOS 27 beta installation guide. For a clean install or recovery, the Mac IPSW downloads list every Golden Gate and Tahoe restore image, and what's new in macOS 27 covers the changes.
