iOS 27 Beta

iOS 27 supported devices: the complete iPhone, iPad and Mac compatibility list

iOS 27 runs on 33 iPhones, from iPhone 11 and SE (2nd gen) to iPhone 18 Pro. Full lists for iPhone, iPad and Mac, plus which models get Apple Intelligence.

Quick answer

iOS 27 supports 33 iPhones: the iPhone 11 and every newer model, plus the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). That is every iPhone that ran iOS 26. The iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and older do not get it. Apple Intelligence needs an A17 Pro chip or newer, so it runs on the iPhone 15 Pro and later.

Which iPhones support iOS 27?

Every iPhone from 2019's iPhone 11 onward runs iOS 27, along with both recent iPhone SE models. Apple did not drop any iPhone this year, so if your phone ran iOS 26, it runs iOS 27. The update reached the public as iOS 27.0 on 14 September 2026, and the current release is iOS 27.0.1 (24A446).

The oldest phones on the list are the iPhone 11 family and the iPhone SE (2nd generation), all built on the A13 Bionic. Before WWDC there were reports that the iPhone 11 might be dropped; it was not. Our article on whether the iPhone 11 gets iOS 27 explains what that phone does and does not get.

Each supported iPhone has its own firmware page with every signed build, linked from the iOS 27 IPSW download hub.

How to check whether your iPhone supports iOS 27

Look up your model name in Settings and compare it with the table above. It takes under a minute.

  1. Open Settings › General › About.
  2. Read the Model Name line, for example iPhone 13 mini.
  3. Check iOS Version on the same screen to see what you are running now.
  4. To update, go to Settings › General › Software Update.

If iOS 27 never appears in Software Update on a supported model, the cause is usually storage or the network rather than the hardware. Our guide to checking if your iPhone supports iOS 27 covers model numbers and what to try next.

Which iPhones get Apple Intelligence?

Apple Intelligence runs on 14 of the 33 supported iPhones: those with an A17 Pro chip or newer. That means the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, the whole iPhone 16 family including the 16e, the whole iPhone 17 family including the 17e and iPhone Air, and the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.

The cut-off splits the iPhone 15 range. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus use the A16 Bionic and do not get Apple Intelligence, even though they run iOS 27 in full. The on-device models also need at least 8 GB of memory, which the A16 phones do not have, so no future setting will add it. Our guide to iOS 27 on the iPhone 15 goes through what those two models get instead.

Availability also depends on your language and region, not only the hardware. Those details are in Apple Intelligence in iOS 27: devices, regions and features.

Which iPhones do not get iOS 27?

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and everything older miss out. That includes the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and the original iPhone SE. These models stopped at iOS 26 or earlier, and none of them can install the iOS 27 beta either.

A phone that misses a major update still works, and apps keep supporting older iOS versions for a while. Over time, though, new app versions start to require a newer iOS, so plan an upgrade if you rely on banking or work apps.

Which iPads support iPadOS 27?

iPads run iPadOS 27 rather than iOS 27, and 23 models get it. The oldest are the iPad (9th generation), iPad Air (4th generation), iPad mini (6th generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation).

Five iPads ran iPadOS 26 but stop there: iPad (8th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation) and iPad mini (5th generation). For those, Apple offers iPadOS 26.7.1. The full list is on our iPadOS 27 supported iPads page.

Which Macs support macOS 27?

macOS 27 runs only on Macs with Apple silicon. Apple said at WWDC 2025 that macOS 26 Tahoe would be the last release for Intel Macs, so macOS 27 is the first version without Intel support.

Four Intel Macs that ran Tahoe do not get macOS 27: the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019), the 13-inch MacBook Pro (2020, four Thunderbolt 3 ports), the 27-inch iMac (2020) and the Mac Pro (2019). The model-by-model list is in our macOS 27 supported Macs guide.

Apple Watch and Apple TV

Apple Watch runs watchOS 27 and Apple TV runs tvOS 27, each with its own compatibility list. The current public releases are watchOS 27.0.1 (24R365) and tvOS 27.0 (24J361), and Apple is testing the 27.2 betas of both. A watch update is offered through the Watch app on your iPhone, under General › Software Update, once the iPhone itself is on iOS 27.

What to do next

If your iPhone is on the list and you want the newest features before everyone else, the next step is the beta. Our guide on how to download the iOS 27 beta walks through it, starting with a backup.

Frequently asked questions

Which iPhones support iOS 27?

33 iPhones support iOS 27: every model from the iPhone 11 onward, plus the iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). That covers the iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 families, the iPhone 16e, the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 17e and iPhone Air, and the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. It is the same lineup that ran iOS 26.

Will the iPhone 11 get iOS 27?

Yes. The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max all run iOS 27, and so does the iPhone SE (2nd generation), which uses the same A13 Bionic chip. They are the oldest iPhones on the list. They get the iOS 27 update and its security fixes, but not Apple Intelligence, which needs an A17 Pro chip or newer.

Which iPhones get Apple Intelligence on iOS 27?

Fourteen models: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The rule is an A17 Pro chip or newer. Every other supported iPhone runs iOS 27 without Apple Intelligence features.

Why doesn't the iPhone 15 get Apple Intelligence?

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus use the A16 Bionic chip, and Apple Intelligence needs an A17 Pro or newer. The A16 models also have less memory than the 8 GB the on-device models need. No setting or update changes this. Both phones still get iOS 27 itself, including its design changes and security updates.

Which iPhones cannot update to iOS 27?

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and every older model, including the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone SE (1st generation). These stay on iOS 26 as their last major version. If Settings › General › Software Update on your iPhone never offers iOS 27, check the model first: it is most likely one of these.

Which iPads support iPadOS 27?

23 iPads, from the iPad (9th generation), iPad Air (4th generation), iPad mini (6th generation) and iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) up to the M5 iPad Pro and M4 iPad Air. Five iPads that ran iPadOS 26 do not get iPadOS 27: iPad (8th generation), iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation) and iPad mini (5th generation).

Does macOS 27 support Intel Macs?

No. macOS 27 runs only on Macs with Apple silicon, from the M1 models of 2020 onward, plus the MacBook Neo. Apple said at WWDC 2025 that macOS 26 Tahoe would be the last release for Intel Macs, so the four Intel models that ran Tahoe stay on it. Check your Mac in Apple menu › About This Mac.

How do I check which iPhone model I have?

Open Settings › General › About and look at Model Name. If you see a model number instead, tap it to switch views. Compare the name with the list on this page. The same screen shows your current iOS version, so you can also see whether you are on iOS 27.0.1 or still on iOS 26.
