Quick answer
The iOS 27 beta was released on Monday 8 June 2026, straight after the WWDC 2026 keynote, as build 24A5355q. Eight iOS 27.0 betas and a release candidate followed, and iOS 27.0 shipped to everyone on 14 September 2026. Today the newest beta is iOS 27.2 beta 4 (24B5110a) and the public release is iOS 27.0.1.

A few patterns stand out. The first four betas came every two weeks. After a three-week gap in late July, betas 5 to 8 arrived weekly through August, which is the usual sign that Apple is closing in on a final build. Beta builds end in a letter (24A5355q); the RC and public builds do not (24A437).
Every file in this list is on Apple's servers. Our iOS 27 IPSW download page lists them per device, with which builds Apple is still signing.
When did the iOS 27 public beta come out?
The public beta ran during the summer through Apple's Beta Software Program, free to anyone with an Apple Account. It trails the developer beta by a build or so, with the roughest bugs already fixed. The build table above lists the developer betas and public releases; public beta builds are not shown as separate rows.
The public beta is still open today. Enroll at beta.apple.com, then choose iOS 27 Public Beta under Beta Updates. Not sure which channel suits you? Our comparison of the developer beta and public beta covers the differences.
What is being tested now: iOS 27.2
The current beta track is iOS 27.2. Apple started it on 16 September 2026, two days after iOS 27.0 went public, and has released four betas so far. The newest is iOS 27.2 beta 4 (24B5110a) from 13 October 2026.
There is no public iOS 27.1 for most iPhones in Apple's catalogue. The public release sits at iOS 27.0.1 while testing moves on in iOS 27.2.
The same 27.2 cycle is running on Apple's other platforms:
| Platform | Latest beta | Latest public release |
|---|---|---|
| iOS | 27.2 beta 4 (24B5110a), 13 Oct | 27.0.1 (24A446), 28 Sep |
| iPadOS | 27.2 beta 4 (24B5110a), 13 Oct | 27.0.1 (24A446), 28 Sep |
| macOS | 27.2 beta 4 (26B5112a), 13 Oct | 27.0.1 (26A434), 28 Sep |
| watchOS | 27.2 beta 4 (24S5112a), 13 Oct | 27.0.1 (24R365), 28 Sep |
| tvOS | 27.2 beta 3 (24K5103f), 5 Oct | 27.0 (24J361), 14 Sep |
| visionOS | 27.2 beta 4 (24N5114a), 13 Oct | 27.0.1 (24M372), 28 Sep |
How the iOS 27 dates compare with earlier years
iOS 27 followed Apple's usual rhythm closely. The final release landed on a Monday, 14 weeks after the WWDC keynote, just as it has in recent years. Apple moved from iOS 18 to iOS 26 in 2025, so the numbers jump in the table.
| Version | WWDC keynote | Public release | Day |
|---|---|---|---|
| iOS 15 | 7 June 2021 | 20 September 2021 | Monday |
| iOS 16 | 6 June 2022 | 12 September 2022 | Monday |
| iOS 17 | 5 June 2023 | 18 September 2023 | Monday |
| iOS 18 | 10 June 2024 | 16 September 2024 | Monday |
| iOS 26 | 9 June 2025 | 15 September 2025 | Monday |
| iOS 27 | 8 June 2026 | 14 September 2026 | Monday |
Before WWDC, this page predicted Monday 14 September 2026 for the final release, based on that pattern. It turned out to be right, but it was always an estimate, and Apple has moved releases by a week before.
What Apple announced at WWDC 2026
The WWDC 2026 keynote on 8 June introduced iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27 and visionOS 27. The keynote started at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (17:00 UTC); our release time zones page has the local times that applied around the world.
For iOS, the centrepiece was Siri AI, alongside a rebuilt search, a Liquid Glass transparency slider and plain-English Shortcuts. Pre-launch reports had also promised things like Create a Pass in Wallet and a customisable Camera app; those did not feature in the highlights. The full iOS 27 features list separates what Apple confirmed from what was only reported.
One pre-keynote rumour proved wrong outright. A leaked compatibility list said iOS 27 would drop older iPhones, but Apple kept every model that ran iOS 26: iPhone 11 and later, plus iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation).
How to install the iOS 27 beta today
The install takes a few minutes of setup and no computer.
- Make an archived backup on a Mac or PC. A backup made on a beta cannot be restored onto an older iOS version.
- For the developer beta, sign in once in the free Apple Developer app. For the public beta, enroll at beta.apple.com.
- Open
Settings › General › Software Update › Beta Updates. - Choose iOS 27 Developer Beta or iOS 27 Public Beta, then go back one screen.
- Tap Download and Install on Wi-Fi with the iPhone on a charger.
To leave later, set Beta Updates to Off. Your iPhone keeps its current build and moves to the next public release with a higher version number. Going back to iOS 26 means a restore from a computer; Apple is currently signing iOS 26.6.1 RC (23G82) for iPhone.

Frequently asked questions
When was the iOS 27 beta released?
Apple released iOS 27 developer beta 1 (build 24A5355q) on Monday 8 June 2026, the same day it announced iOS 27 at the WWDC 2026 keynote. Seven more iOS 27.0 betas followed over the summer, ending with beta 8 (24A5430a) on 31 August. The free public beta ran alongside them through Apple's Beta Software Program at beta.apple.com.
When was iOS 27 released to the public?
iOS 27.0 reached the public on Monday 14 September 2026 as build 24A437, five days after the release candidate (24A435) on 9 September. That was 14 weeks after the WWDC keynote. The first bug-fix update, iOS 27.0.1 (24A446), followed on 28 September 2026 and is the current public release.
What is the latest iOS 27 beta?
The latest beta is iOS 27.2 beta 4, build 24B5110a, released on 13 October 2026. The iOS 27.2 track started on 16 September, two days after iOS 27.0 shipped, and has had four betas so far. If you are enrolled, it appears in Settings › General › Software Update once you choose a beta channel under Beta Updates.
How often does Apple release iOS 27 betas?
It varied through the cycle. iOS 27.0 betas 1 to 4 arrived every two weeks, beta 5 came three weeks after beta 4, and betas 5 to 8 then landed weekly through August. The iOS 27.2 betas have come out roughly every one to two weeks. Apple does not publish a schedule in advance, so treat any predicted date as a guess.
Do I need a paid developer account for the iOS 27 beta?
No. Both betas are free with any Apple Account. For the developer beta, sign in once in the free Apple Developer app; for the public beta, enroll at beta.apple.com. Then pick the channel in Settings › General › Software Update › Beta Updates. Configuration profiles were retired in 2023, so any site offering an iOS 27 beta profile is out of date.
Was there an iOS 27.1?
Not for most iPhones. Apple's release catalogue goes from iOS 27.0.1 straight to the iOS 27.2 beta track, and iOS 27.2 is where testing is happening now. If you see a guide promising iOS 27.1 features or files for your iPhone, check it against the build list on this page before you rely on it.
