How to install an IPSW on the iPad Pro 13-inch (M5)

  1. Back up first. Restoring an IPSW erases the iPad. Make an encrypted, archived backup in Finder (Mac) or the Apple Devices app (Windows).
  2. Download the right file from the table above — it must match the iPad Pro 13-inch (M5) and be marked Signed, or Apple will refuse it.
  3. Connect the iPad with a cable, open Finder or Apple Devices, and select it in the sidebar.
  4. Option-click (Mac) or Shift-click (Windows) Check for Update to install over your data, or Restore iPad for a clean install — then pick the .ipsw file.
  5. Wait for both restarts and keep the cable connected. If the iPad won't respond, put it in recovery mode and restore again.

No computer? You don't need an IPSW to try the beta — it installs over the air from Settings. IPSW files are for clean installs, recovering a stuck device and downgrading.
