Quick answer
Before WWDC 2026, iOS 27 leaks centred on a smarter Siri, a "Snow Leopard" focus on performance and Liquid Glass fixes. Those broadly came true: Apple shipped Siri AI, cited faster app launches and added a transparency slider. Device-drop rumours were wrong, and Health+, iPhone Fold features and most app-level leaks remain unconfirmed.
What this page is now
From January to May 2026 this page tracked iOS 27 leaks and rumours, with confidence ratings for each. iOS 27 has since been announced, on 8 June 2026, and released, on 14 September 2026. So the page is now a record of what was reported before launch, checked against what Apple actually announced.
If you only want the features you can use today, go straight to the confirmed iOS 27 features list. Read on if you want to see how the leaks held up.
The scorecard: iOS 27 rumours versus reality
Here is every major rumour this page tracked, with what we can say about it now. "Confirmed" means it matches Apple's WWDC highlights for iOS 27. "Not confirmed" means we have no evidence it shipped, which is not the same as proof it did not.

Siri and Apple Intelligence: the rumours that held up
The Siri rumours were the most accurate part of the iOS 27 leak cycle. Reports through early 2026 described a Siri that understands relationships across Messages, Mail, Photos and Calendar, can see what is on screen, and can carry out multi-step tasks inside apps.
Apple's keynote delivered most of that. Siri AI remembers earlier questions, understands what is on your screen, draws on personal context from Messages, Mail, Photos and Notes, and acts inside your apps. It also comes as a standalone app. At launch Apple said English would arrive later in 2026, with more languages after that. Siri AI needs an iPhone with an A17 Pro chip or newer, so iPhone 15 Pro and later, but not the standard iPhone 15 or 15 Plus.
The other big Siri story was the Apple and Google partnership. In January 2026, the two companies announced a multi-year deal under which Google's Gemini models would form the basis of Apple Foundation Models. Pre-launch reports said the work would run on Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers and carry no Google branding. We have not seen anything since that changes or adds to those reports, so we leave them as they were reported. For the background on why the Siri upgrade took so long, see our breakdown of the Siri delays.
Performance and design: right in spirit
Bloomberg's description of iOS 27 as a "Snow Leopard" release, named after the 2009 Mac update that focused on speed and stability, set expectations for a quieter year. That turned out half right. Apple did lead on performance, citing up to 30% faster app launches and up to 70% quicker photo loading right after capture. But iOS 27 also brought plenty of new features, starting with Siri AI.
The Liquid Glass rumours were also on target. Reports of an intensity control became a system-wide slider that dials transparency up or down, and app icons gained a layered, near-3D look. The pre-launch details about exact presets and menu locations were never confirmed; our Liquid Glass slider guide sticks to what we know.
Health+ and the AI doctor: still unconfirmed
The most ambitious rumour was a Health+ subscription with an AI assistant that could answer questions about your health data, explain trends and log meals from photos. None of that appeared in Apple's iOS 27 highlights.
What did ship in Health is narrower: Cycle Tracking gained dedicated perimenopause and menopause tracking with personalised insights. If Apple launches a paid health service later, it will be its own announcement, not a quiet part of an iOS update.
iPhone Fold: no device, so no confirmed features
Many reports said iOS 27 was being built around Apple's first foldable iPhone, with side-by-side apps, Slide Over and smooth transitions between the folded and unfolded screens. None of that can be confirmed, because there is no foldable iPhone in Apple's iOS 27 device list.
As of 19 October 2026, the iPhones that run iOS 27 run from iPhone 11 to iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, 33 models in all, and no foldable among them. Our iPhone Fold page keeps the hardware reports from before launch, clearly marked as unconfirmed.
Device support: where the leaks went wrong
Compatibility was the weakest area for iOS 27 leaks. A list attributed to a Weibo leaker claimed Apple would cut several older iPhones, including the iPhone 11 series and iPhone SE (2nd generation). Earlier, this page guessed that support would match a baseline of iPhone XS and newer. Both were wrong.
Apple kept every iPhone that ran iOS 26 and added nothing older. iOS 27 runs on iPhone 11 and later plus iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation). The iPhone XS, XS Max and XR stay unsupported. Check your model in the iOS 27 supported devices list.
Where the iOS 27 leaks came from
Most specific iOS 27 feature leaks traced back to an internal iOS 26 engineering build reported by Macworld in December 2025. Builds like that contain feature flags, internal switches that engineers use to turn features on and off during development, sometimes tagged with the release Apple was aiming for.
Feature flags show what Apple was working on, not what it would ship. Several of the items they pointed to, such as Photos Collections changes and a new AirPods pairing system, did not appear in the iOS 27 keynote. Others may still arrive in a point release, or may have been dropped.
How to read iOS leaks next time
The iOS 27 cycle offers a useful rule of thumb. Broad direction from well-sourced reporters, such as "Siri gets much smarter" or "this year is about performance", tends to hold up. Precise details are far less reliable: exact names, menu locations, presets, prices, device cut-offs and dates.
- Trust the general theme more than any single feature.
- Treat device-support leaks with particular caution.
- Wait for Apple's keynote or newsroom before planning a purchase or an upgrade around a rumour.

Frequently asked questions
Which iOS 27 rumours turned out to be true?
The big ones about Siri. Reports said iOS 27 would bring a far more personal Siri with on-screen awareness and context from your apps, and Apple announced Siri AI with exactly that, plus a standalone app. The performance-first "Snow Leopard" framing also held up, with Apple claiming faster app launches, and a Liquid Glass intensity control arrived as a system-wide transparency slider.
Which iOS 27 rumours were wrong?
The device rumours. One leaked list said iOS 27 would drop older iPhones, and this page once said iPhone XS and newer would be supported. Both were wrong: iOS 27 runs on iPhone 11 and later plus iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), and the XS, XS Max and XR do not get it. Talk of iPhone Fold support also has nothing to point to yet.
Is iOS 27 out now?
Yes. Apple announced iOS 27 at WWDC on 8 June 2026 and released iOS 27.0 to the public on 14 September 2026 (build 24A437). iOS 27.0.1 (24A446) followed on 28 September and is the current public release. The current beta is iOS 27.2 beta 4 (24B5110a), released on 13 October 2026.
Did the Health+ AI doctor come with iOS 27?
Not that we can confirm. Reports before launch described a Health+ subscription with an AI health assistant and food logging. Apple's iOS 27 highlights included Health changes, but they were perimenopause and menopause tracking in Cycle Tracking, not a paid AI service. Treat Health+ as an unconfirmed report until Apple announces it.
Does iOS 27 support a foldable iPhone?
There is no foldable iPhone to support yet. As of 19 October 2026, Apple's list of iPhones that run iOS 27 has 33 models, with iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max as the newest, and no foldable model among them. The fold-specific software features reported before launch remain unconfirmed. Our iPhone Fold page keeps the pre-launch reports.
How reliable are iOS leaks in general?
Mixed, and iOS 27 is a good example. Reports about the direction of the release, such as a better Siri and a focus on performance, were broadly right. Specific details, like exact feature names, device cut-offs and launch timing, were often wrong or did not appear. Treat any single leak as a possibility, and wait for Apple's own announcement before planning around it.
